Native-speaking English Teacher (NET) Scheme

Our school currently has four Native-speaking       English Teachers (NETs) who possess extensive teaching experience and have collaborated with our local English teachers for many years. Beyond co-designing the curriculum with their local counterparts, the NETs actively assist in classroom teaching to enhance students' English listening and speaking skills. Additionally, they conduct engaging and enjoyable English activities during recess, providing students with ample opportunities to learn English both inside and outside the classroom, thereby building a solid foundation in the language.

School-based Reading Programme (SRP)

The goal of our School-based Reading Programme (SRP) is to enable students in the first key learning stage to systematically acquire reading skills and phonics, thereby improving their overall English proficiency.

Primary 1 to Primary 3 students participate in two SRP sessions per week. These sessions include activities such as shared reading, singing English nursery rhymes, phonics instruction, small-group teaching, and language games, all designed to immerse students in a rich language environment. Throughout the programme, students learn to apply reading strategies and phonics to decode and read English words, while also acquiring vocabulary and sentence structures in meaningful contexts.

A key component of the SRP is the Home Reading Scheme. Each week, students borrow an English book to read at home with their parents. This practice helps reinforce the letter sounds and sentence patterns learned in school and fosters a habit of regular reading.

To support this programme effectively, the school has employed an English Teaching Assistant (ETA). The ETA works alongside the NETs and local English teachers in the classroom, enabling closer attention to individual student needs and increasing teacher-student interaction, which naturally leads to more effective English learning outcomes.

English Reading Lessons & Keys2 Literacy Programme (Keys2)

Our NETs also collaborate with local teachers in conducting English Reading Lessons and the Keys2 Literacy Programme (Keys2). This programme not only exposes students to various literary genres and diverse reading strategies but also teaches them systematic writing steps to enhance their writing skills.

Diversified English Activities

The school regularly organizes a wide range of English activities, such as English Day, Readers' Theatre competitions, and English talent shows. These activities provide students with rich and varied opportunities for English learning, while also encouraging them to use and communicate in English in their daily lives.
